Henderson ArtsWalk Today - Vendor Information

Sarah here.  To follow up to my post about the Henderson Art Association, the meeting was great!  Their group is very well organized and they have a lot of gallery opportunities for their members.  Most of their members are the kind of artist whose stuff can hang on a wall, but they let stuffed animal makers like me tag along to their meetings anyway (A stuffed kitty just loses some of its charm when you nail it to the wall).  I'll try and give you guys more notice about their upcoming meetings.  It's usually a lecture from someone art-oriented and a great night out with other creative people.  Their group is also listed under the Community Art Resources link in the sidebar of the blog.  I also loved getting to meet a few of the other team members there (the fabulous Ventura sisters and of course the lovely Wendy)

A woman from the Water Street Business Association was also at the meeting to talk about ArtsWalk.  Most of you probably got my email regarding Henderson ArtsWalk, but for you newbies to the team (not that the rest of us are old pros...) here's the scoop.  The city of Henderson puts on a third Thursday Arts event in the downtown Water Street District.  In the past, it has been mostly about visiting galleries and entertainment, but the city has recently decided to allow vendors, artists, crafters to participate as well.  They would really like to grow this event and have it be a more family friendly version of First Friday.  The event runs from approx. 5 to 8pm.

She was especially excited to hear about our new group, and asked that we participate in their event since the vendor aspect of it is new and they need crafters.  Because of the late notice, we weren't able to put together as many vendors as we would have liked, but at the end of the day, we're going to have seven of our team members at tables there.  We hope to have many more in coming months.

We will have a Team Table set up at the event (manned by Athena from Linda Manita).  I had a team banner printed and hope to have some more literature about the team on her table as well as assorted items to sell from various team members, and team member business cards.  Please feel free to drop your promo items off at the event to our table anytime after 4:30 for us to distribute.  Athena is also going to be doing a really cute tissue paper flower craft.  We plan on having our team table at this event every month with various team members taking turns at our team table.

The other members selling (and some doing free crafts) are myself with Flaky Friends, Shahla from Kaaredast, Betsy from Moonstone Bay, Cathy from Desert Designs, Allyson from Dancing Angels Quilts, and Carolyn from Carolyn's Jewelry.

Also, since this format is all very new for ArtsWalk, they are pretty easy about getting a table.  You can pretty much just show up with your stuff at this point around 4:30 and they would probably be able to accommodate you.  So if any of you get ditched by your friends tomorrow and have nothing better to do, come sell with us.

Here is more specific information regarding being a vendor at the event:
  • The event is every month, on the Third Thursday, year-round.
  • Any artist or crafter is welcome to vend.
  • The city provides you with a six foot long table and a chair.  You are welcome to bring any other set up material you'd like (like a pop up canopy or extra chairs)
  • The fee for a table is $15 for the evening.  However, if you also provide some sort of craft that the kids can make at your table and take home with them, your table is free.  You can still sell your items if you are doing a craft.
  • The City will begin setting up tables at 4:00.  Vendors should start set up no later than 4:30.
  • Tables are first come, first serve (except the city's canopies).  Please arrive in time to pick your ideal location.
  • All the vendor tables are located in the Events Plaza on the Corner of Atlantic and Water Street.
  • No business license or permit is required to sell at the event.  When you are leaving, you'll need to check out with the event coordinator to pay her directly all the taxes you collected on your sales that evening and they will handle it from there.  It's a new, simple way for smaller crafters to participate in community events.
Wow.  I talk too much.  I apologize in advance for those of you coming to the team meeting on the 25th.   So come see us tonight!  Bring some extra business cards for the team table, and a few extra bucks to buy some seriously awesome stuff :)

I'm so glad so many of you will be there tonight. I won't make the team meeting so I look forward to the chance to meet you.

I am planning to do this event next month...assuming that my schedule at work is not tampered with. The WSOP is a busy time for us and there's no telling what could happen with schedules.

What in the world is "WSOP?" Should I be locking my doors at night? Sounds poisonous.

Look forward to meeting more team members tonight. Was a blast meeting everyone at the association meeting. Going green is something everyone should work on. These are exciting times.
