So today's big news is that our Team Etsy shop is officially open. We will be selling the origami pins our team has been making to raise money for the gulf (see Marlene's
post from earlier this week for more details on that.)
You can view the store
here.
UPDATE * Teri from
XS Crazy and More has generously volunteered to run the shop for us. If you are interested in donating an item to the shop, please email her
at brinkley@air-internet.com. Thank you so much, Teri!!
We are still waiting for a volunteer(s) to run the team shop. Until we've got some help to run it, we will only be selling the origami pins there. If you're shop is slow right now or if you just have some extra time and would be willing to manage our team shop, please let me know. It would involve posting listings, notifying team members when their items have sold, and forwarding shipping money from sales to the appropriate sellers. You would not need to ship anything personally. We'll leave that up to those who donate items. Also, Etsy guidelines specify that anyone running a team shop is not allowed to purchase from it, as that would be considered false inflation of sales.

Would they forward the pictures of their items along with the description to the person managing the shop? I could give it a try. I can't purchase from it but can I list stuff to sell?
Yes, anyone wanting to make a donation would just send you their item listing, and you would copy it onto the team account. Once you've got it in the team store, they would delete it from their store. Etsy regulations say the same item can't be listed in two stores at the same time (unless there are multiple of course). The person managing the shop can list whatever they would like, including their own items. All items in the team shop that are donated should include a link in the description telling buyers who the creator of the item is and what their Etsy shop address is as well.
My last team had a team shop too. They just gave everyone the password so that those wishing to donate, could actually list the items themselves. That way the person watching the store wouldn't be so overloaded. Also, if we list in our store first, aren't we going to be paying a listing fee for nothing?
Also, so for those that have only more pricey items, they were free to donate a percentage of the actual purchase price as opposed to the whole amount.
Anyway, just food for thought :-)
You're right, Chez about the waste of money. I was thinking that if they wanted to donate something that was already listed in their personal shop, it would be a good way to transfer the information, but if the item has never been listed before, it's a waste of the listing fee.
The main issue of having the team store is who'se paypal account all the money goes to. We don't have a team bank account, so it would have to go to someone's personal account who would then have to manage and forward money and shipping fees. I'm working with a team member right now to see if we can get something set up.
Anyone else have any ideas on easy way to run this store? A ton of teams don't even bother with them but we needed somewhere to sell our team pins.
Looks like Teri from XS Crazy and More is going to be taking on the team shop! If you are interested in donating an item, please email her at brinkley@air-internet.com.
She should have things set up in the next few days.
I'm going to try this one more time. My comments are going into the black hole somewhere! I don't think I'll be over loaded. As far as double listings, maybe you could make something only for the team shop - that way you won't pay for the listing in your shop and the team shop. Like Sarah said, it needs to be set up to a pp account. I'm going to get a second e-mail to attach to the team shop so the money will be separate from my pp account.
