Hi Team - After our Review Journal article ran, I got a call from the events coordinator with the College of Southern Nevada. She was really excited about our group and what we're about and wants to feature us at their big October Festival. It's a three day event on the college campus with bands, a carnival, food, etc (kind of a country fair feel). She's hoping to do a entire section within their arts and crafts area that features our group exclusively. There are 150 vendor stalls for arts and crafts alone at this event. She would also like to feature our group on a PSA that will be running on Cox cable advertising the event. Her normal rates for a 10x10 space for other vendors is $250, plus another $150 if you need a canopy provided. However, she looked through our team member shops and noticed that a lot of us run smaller operations so she is offering us a team deal.
The event runs Friday through Sunday on Oct 29th through the 31st. On Saturday, they'll be hosting trick or treating for kids and supplying vendors with candy to pass out to the crowds. The hours are Friday-Sat, 10am to 10pm and Sunday, 10-4pm. Here is the event website: http://sites.csn.edu/ foundation/fff-index.html
She is able to offer our group 10x10' spaces WITH canopies for $100 per space for the entire three days. Also, she encourages sharing of spaces for those who dont' think they can fill an entire space or who can only do certain days and need someone to take the other one(s). We can fit two, possibly three vendors in one space if necessary. The additional costs for application are a $25, non refundable application fee, vendors insurance ($52.50 per booth space. Apply here: http://sites.csn.edu/ foundation/fff-insurance.html) and a cleaning deposit of $100 that is fully refundable if you leave your space clean at the end of the event. We only need to submit one application per 10x10 space. So if two people are sharing a space, they only need to get one insurance quote, one cleaning deposit, and one application fee. The total comes to about $58 a day per 10x10 space so if you are sharing, this is a fantastic deal - with two people, it's only $26 a day.
Obviously, this requires some coordination on our part to get people paired up who want to share booths. I've put up this post on the blog for those who want to connect with other team members to coordinate sharing. Please leave your comment there with your email address and if you want to share a booth or swap off days and others who want to share/swap days can connect with you there. CSN does not want empty spaces so if you can only do certain days, please make sure to find another team member vendor to fill in the day(s) you cannot participate.
As far as selling food, she said that as long as there are no samples offered and all food is sold in packages, no food permit is required. If you are a food vendor, please make sure to comply with this guideline and have all your food items in sealed packages.
Also, no vendors permit or business license is required. I've attached a one-time sales tax form that you will submit to CSN at the end of the event declaring any sales tax you collect.

good question, Maya. You don't have to have a separate booth for different types of items. You can sell anything handmade in your space. If you would like to purchase two spaces just for the extra room, feel free to do that, but I think you'd be fine with just the one.

XS Crazy, you can certainly just use the 10x10 space all by yourself for the $100. It's a fantastic rate for a single vendor for a three day event.
I'd actually encourage anyone who is on the fence to take an entire booth to themselves. The event coordinator really wants us to be a big presence at the event and the more room we take up, the more seriously people will take our group. She would love to get all 225 of us there, but obviously that won't happen. I'm really glad to see all the people who do want to participate though.
Jeri - I'd love to give you the Sunday in my spot. If you want to work out someone to share with you on Sunday, that would be fine. We can put as many people as we want under one tent, but I think three people in one space is pretty tight.
As far as this event's history, this is the first year they have done it. But there are over 150 artisan booths alone, and on top of that there is a carnival, bandstand, large food vendor section, and kid's game area. Their promotion for the event seems to be on an epic scale and I have no doubt the price we are being charged will be worth it.
Do you happen to know if walls come with the canopy for weather? And is there security during the night hours since everything is left outside?
I think night time security is a given, but I'll check with the event coordinator just in case.
Also, if you look at the application, you can see all the "extra" your space can be provided with for an additional fee including side walls. I'm copying it below as well:

sorry to be such a pest but when your asking her about security, could you also check about the lighting? I'm assuming the option to get electricity is only if you have something in your booth that requires it and not so people can see you at night. I'm thinking the parking lot has lights. But then I've learned never to assume anything!

Important update, everyone - CSN has asked that we limit booths to only TWO vendors per booth. I'll try to personally get in touch with those who have already commented, but please if you are unable to fill a booth by yourself and would like to share, just have one other vendor apply with you.
As far as security, there will be campus police and security in the area at night, but the event terms and conditions do remind vendors that no responsibility is on the event to ensure your product safety. If you feel comfortable leaving them out at night, do so. If not, pack it in. Personally, I'm going to pack up my actual inventory at night, but leave my shelves, tables, etc.
