The Art Fair
I'm so glad that our event turned out to be a success. I was a little apprehensive in the beginning when all the wedding refuse and set up from the night before was still there. And I never did find out why there wasn't any wine tasting as promised. Oh well. I had no idea there would be OTHER crafters, either. Their stuff wasn't as nice as ours, anyway!!!And of course, there was the fact that the storm the night before knocked out the cell towers and caused the ATM machine not to work. Despite all of that, we had a great turn out of customers. And the monsoon did give us at least five hours before it hit. Thanks everyone for helping to make our first official event a success!! It was my first ever craft fair as a vendor, so I learned a lot. I'm also glad to meet all of you after all these months of e-mailing!!!!

Hi Robi,
The show was GREAT! Thanks for all your hard work, I think it really paid off, we had a steady stream of traffic pretty much all day!!
I was kind of wondering about a few of those additional vendors, but in the end I think it all went very very well.
Thanks again!

Many thanks to Robi for all her hard work! It was a terrific show! Beautiful weather for most of the show, steady stream of traffic & LOTS of buyers.
Sign me up for next year--same spot!
Did other vendors just SHOW UP without paying?
It was wonderful to meet a lot of the team members. Great job Robi and the treat bags was awesome of you!
I was disappointed with the outside vendors being there. The watch lady with all her mass produce items really threw me off.
We (my fiance and I) both enjoyed ourselves very much. We had breakfast there and took advantage of the bar as well. I actually owed him a few drinks for offering muscle to vendors who were having trouble setting up shop. He's a bit sore at the moment. It was a surprise to me that one of the vendors who we found out later was not part of our team have taken advantage of his kindness. She must think he was the hotel staff or something or he was on the hotel payroll. I felt terrible as I was the one who invited him to come help me out and he end up doing much more.
I do wish the hotel could have done a bit more to help make things easier. And maybe not allow other vendors to participate as I believe Robi and the team did most of the advertisement, financially and physically.
I managed to grab a few items that I am still gushing about.
I am looking forward to participating as a vendor next year. It was awesome!
By OTHER vendors do you mean vendors that were not on the Handmade team? Or vendors that were not signed on by Robi?
They were vendors that come up every weekend to the hotel. I didn't even know about them. Yes, they did gain advantage of OUR advertising and OUR muscle, but the hotel did let us use the space without a fee. We must all remember that.
Keona, your fiance is awesome and so are you. Thank you so much for volunteering. I'm sorry your fiance got snagged by the Diva who came from the "Outer Limits". Even her friend was embarrassed by her Prima Donna behavior.
Gee I missed all that. Keona's fiance was a dream. He help me and Liz set up and was following us around always carrying something of ours. Very nice gentleman! I was looking for the team members that had donated to the store and I approached one woman right inside the main door that was selling jewelry. When I asked her if she was with hand made in vegas/etsy she looked down her nose at me and said, "who?". Not very nice. So the ones that weren't with us had somewhat of an attitude like we were intruding on their space - even though they did benefit from our advertising. But, all in all it was nice and I did make back 5 fold on my booth space. I'll be back next year - lets just not order the monsoon! You did an A1 job Robi.
Dare I ask this Robi,
When is the next one going to be up there? Weather wise it will be hard to know. I thought twice a year would be great. What do u think?

The hotel events planner did suggest a winter/holiday show , but we'd have to be inside---and there isn't a lot of space with those OTHER snobby people. I'd have to insist that they weren't there, if that's even possible. I already am getting requests on the website from vendors wanting to be in the next show!!!
Like I said on the other post if they want us bad enough they'll find a way to ban the other vendors for the day. After my encounter with "miss looking down her nose at me", we don't want customers thinking that this type of person is part of our team.
