Hello All, a friend of mine named Jason back in my hometown of Houston has signed up to do the 'Relay for Life' event in efforts to raise funds for cancer research. He informed me of his relay team and their efforts this afternoon, so I wanted to pass this along. His personal goal is to raise $2k but he plans to raise as much as possible before the event. Every little bit helps, and he lost his stepfather several years ago to cancer so his heart is really into doing as much as he can to help fund research and help aid in finding a cure. If any of you can find it in your heart to forgo your morning coffee, smoothie, bag of cookies or what have you- it would be greatly appreciated.
He is part of a team of several other Houstonians that will be doing the 'relay' and with their combined efforts- they hope to raise a fair amount in the fight against cancer. Here is the link to his personal relay page, you can choose whatever display name you would like to show up as the name for your donation (etsy shop, website, handmade in vegas, your name, fake name etc) or there is an option to be nameless. http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLFY11PL?px=19100327&pg=personal&fr_id=31875
The online donation minimum is $10 (no maximum) as that's how the site is set up, but you can donate ANY amount in the form of a check or money order made out to the 'American Cancer Society' - If you would like to mail a donation I can get the mailing address for you, or you can choose the printable donation form link found here:

I wish the online donation accepted any amount, but $10 is a small amount to spare when you know that your money will be going towards such a great cause to help end a HUGE medical problem.
A little more about Jason and his cause:
I went to highschool with Jason and we swam on the same swimteam for years. He has always been very motivated and really puts his heart and best efforts into anything he is passionate about so I know he will do all that he can to raise funds and awareness for cancer research through the Relay for life event. Jason's stepfather was diagnosed with cancer when he was just a freshman in highschool. His father started the long, expensive, painful and emotional process of treating cancer immediately. Jason's life was turned upside-down and it was an extremely difficult time being a full time student, actively participating on the swimteam, and working full-time to help pay the bills and medical expenses. In just three very short years, his stepfather lost his battle with cancer. Jason described the entire process of watching his father pass away as the "hardest thing I have ever been through in my life" His goal is simply 'to make a difference in someone else's life that has cancer' With your help he can do just that! We all have been, know, know of, or have talked with someone who have been affected by cancer in some way. If you can find it in your heart to make a donation of any size towards this great cause, it would be most appreciated by myself, Jason and anyone who has been affected by cancer especially cancer patients and their families.
Thanks in advance to any of you who will help donate or even just spread the word.
I will be making a considerable donation myself soon, and setting up a listing on etsy that will be renewed every time it sells so the proceeds can go directly to Jason and his team.
