Opporunity to be Featured in the Desert Companion

Another great opportunity for our team, folks!  I just heard from Andrew Kiraly, Editor of Desert Companion magazine, that he'd like to start featuring local talent in his publication on a regular basis and he is looking for artist submissions to be featured.  Here's his email:

I'm looking to do an occasional, possibly bimonthly page
called "Meet your makers" that showcases locally made things. It would
be things we could ostensibly "review" -- so, in your realm, it'd be
consumables we could use or eat or try -- for instance, soap or
granola, stuff like that. The page would comprise short, upbeat
profiles with some review elements -- we'd give a quick, honest but
not slaggy take on it. Another element might be profiling a "maker,"
perhaps with some tips/quotes on his/her product.

If you want to spread the word to your team, that'd be great. I'm
hoping to generate enough material so this could appear at least
semi-regularly. They can e-mail me directly. If they want to send
stuff, they can give me a heads up first, or just mail it to Desert
Companion, 1289 S. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89146.

Thanks!

Anyone hoping to be included should take him up on his offer and send him in an email/letter giving a peppy overview of who you are and what you're making along with some pictures.  Good luck!

I hope you will all seriously consider this opportunity. Based on the feature they did on me in Feb. of this year, I now have my items in one of the hottest boutiques in Las Vegas, Patty's Closet and have had multiple offers to place my product in other local shops. In each instance, the shop owner contacted me becaused they'd seen the article in the Desert Companion. Additionally, I have had a boost in my Etsy sales from Las Vegas buyers who also mentioned seeing the article.

You never know what opportunity might come your way with a little exposure!! Take the leap. . . .

Marlene,

What type of items did you send in? Was it the actual items or pictures? Maybe you could give us tips on making a submission, especially those of us who don't make 'consumables.'
