Operation Homefront – Nevada throws
Boots and Booties-The Largest Military Baby Shower in Nevada
Las Vegas, NV – Operation Homefront – Nevada and Fox5 have joined forces to provide the state of Nevada’s largest military baby shower Boots and Booties. The shower will be held on Saturday January 22, 2011 in Las Vegas for approximately 100 new and expecting mothers who have deployed partners or are active-duty servicewomen. All military branches of services will be invited (Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines) to participate. The event will include gifts from the local community and flowers from expectant fathers.
FOX5 will partner with Operation Homefront - Nevada to hold military baby showers in January and July of next year. The showers will help military expecting mothers and their families receive the items needed when caring for their newborns.
“This giant baby shower is a new endeavor for many members of Operation Homefront,” said Carl Long, President of Operation Homefront – Nevada. "New motherhood is challenging enough under ideal circumstances, so being able to support and lift up these mothers while their partners are deployed is just fantastic. It helps ensure moms have what they need, and reassures deployed dads that their loved ones are cared for so that they can focus on their mission."
Members of the community are encouraged to drop off their new unwrapped baby items to the valets of the Cannery Casino & Hotel in North Las Vegas, Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel on Boulder Highway or Rampart Casino in Summerlin from December 15-January 15.
“This is a wonderful event and our team members are excited for the chance to get involved and help,” said Marty Gross, vice president and general manager of Eastside Cannery. “Since our properties are located throughout the Las Vegas Valley we offer convenient drop off points for donations and we hope that everyone gets involved so that these families who are sacrificing for us get everything they need.”
Any military expecting mothers who are active duty service women, spouses of active duty, Reserve or National Guard who are expecting between November 1st and April 31, 2011 can register now for the January 22, 2011 shower at www.operationhomefront.net/
Individuals or companies wishing to donate items or volunteer please contact Jody Shervanick, Boots and Booties baby shower coordinator at 702.862.6064 or email jodyshervanick@hotmail.com.

Jody contacted me about this yesterday. I think it's such a great opportunity to be apart of...I will be making some fabric baby rattles, going to be so cute!
This is pretty cool!
I will see what I can do.
Oh no I just noticed the time from till Jan. 15th. Such a short time.
I might crochet/knit something up quick.
This is a fantastic idea. I just wish there had been more notice.
I want to thank everyone who volunteered to make or those who purchased baby items for our big military baby shower on Saturday January 22nd. I can't tell you how much those handmade touches from the local etsy retailers meant to these military moms! Thank You Thank You so much for all your support of our military and their local expecting military families. We are going to be throwing another baby shower on July 30th. If anyone is interested in helping contribute baby items or volunteering at the baby shower we would love it.
